Sports Medicine

Sports MedicineSports injuries are usually soft tissue injuries of the tendons, muscles, ligaments, and cartilage of the arms and legs. More severe injuries can include in fractured bones.

Many can be treated non-surgically with rest, immobilization, anti-inflammatory medications, and sometimes physical therapy.

Some require surgical repair to reattach the soft tissue to bone, provide stability, or allow earlier return to play. Others may be treated with office injections of steroids or platelet rich plasma. When surgery is needed, the vast majority of the procedures are performed arthroscopically.

Sports MedicineWe perform the evaluation and imaging studies, and recommend the most appropriate treatment based on patient desires, injury type, literature, and experience. We are trained in the latest surgical techniques and implants.

The above conditions are not isolated to sports medicine. Some are also workplace injuries.

Some are age-related degeneration. For simplicity sake, they are often lumped into the category of sports medicine, but are managed in the same manner.
